10 Ways to Help Your Body Detoxify

1. Eat plenty of fiber. Fiber helps you have regular bowel movements which is a big way to move any waste out of your body.  Do it daily!  Beets, radishes, artichokes, asparagus, brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.  Wheat grass juice is also fantastic support for the body.

2. Support the liver by taking bitter herbs such as dandelion root, sylmarin or milk thistle, and drinking green tea.  We found a product called dandyblend that tastes like coffee!  We love it and it is a liver detox – YUM.  Eat Leafy green vegetables as much as possible!

3. Take a natural form of vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.  Also N-acytl cystine, calcium D glucarate and DIM or I3C help with converting estrogen into friendlier metabolites.

4. Drink at least 2 quarts of CLEAN water daily.  Not in a #7 plastic Bottle.

5. Breathe deeply allowing the air to fill the lungs entirely.  Breathe in thru your nose as much as possible.  This will give you better blood oxygen exchange.

6. Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions.  If you are eating something, bless it.  Telling yourself, this is gonna kill me and then popping it into your mouth, isn’t the friendliest idea.

7. Practice contrast hydrotherapy. by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times.  The hot cold changes cause the blood vessels to open and close, this is a traditional way to force the blood to clean itself which is used in Japan bathhousesand in European mineral baths.

8. Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration.  There is great evidence on this.  If you can, exercise before you sauna and then take some niacin to open your blood capillaries.  Be sure to replenish with plenty of water and minerals afterwards.

9. Dry-brush your skin to help remove toxins through your pores. Gua Sha is very good for this as well.  Lymphatic massage can also be used.

10. The benefits of exercise to reduce risk of many diseases is well established.  Moving helps the body metabolize any toxins you were exposed to.   There is perhaps more evidence for this point than any of the aformentioned points.  Additionally, it seems to help with depression, diabetes, heart disease and other common problems.
